The International Conference Of Building Officials (known as the
"ICBO") is the organization which drafted and developed
the Uniform Building Code (known as the "UBC"); the most
widely recognized and followed building code in the United States.
In 1999, ICBO became the first product certifier in the United
States to be accredited by the American National Standards Institute
(ANSI) and the Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC).
The UBC is considered the "Bible" of the construction
and building manufacturing industry and in almost all areas has
been adopted as the building code to follow.
Other certifications are given by building groups to their
dues-paying members. The ICBO is a totally independent group that
gives certification only after months of rigorous review and ongoing,
random inspections.
ICBO certification makes the acquisition of a building permit fast,
easy and problem free. The ICBO writes the Uniform Building Code
that your local building official follows. In many jurisdictions,
merely providing our ICBO certification number results in your project
being approved.
